IUDX (India Urban Data Exchange) @ IISc is pleased to announce a poster competition on the topic of “data for public good”. Data is increasingly being used across the world to fuel economic growth, prosperity, and societal innovation. For example, it is now well established that the use of data can improve product and service quality, facilitate evidence-based decision making, and promote innovation, inclusivity, sustainability and transparency. Therefore, the use of data for public good has the potential to address complex societal challenges and create significant social and economic benefits, thus improving the well-being of individuals and communities around the world. The objective of this competition is to expose talented students to opportunities in making a societal impact by using data and analytics. We invite submissions of ideas from students that address a societal issue by proposing an innovative solution involving the use of data. The issue being addressed can be in any area such as urban living, rural development, agriculture, health care, education, entertainment, as well as art and culture.

Eligibility Criteria

Students (undergraduate and postgraduate) of any academic institution recognized by AICTE/UGC are eligible to submit an idea. Teams of up to four students can be part of a submission. A given student can be part of any number of submissions. Interdisciplinary teams that include students from different departments (such as engineering, management, and social sciences) are encouraged, so that a holistic idea that considers many aspects of the proposed idea can be developed and presented. Students from multiple institutions are also allowed to be part of a particular submission.
